The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 had an integral role in connecting with Doctor Strange in terms of a character which we may have never heard of but was introduced to us for a mere number of seconds.

Appearances and Easter eggs are everywhere in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, from nods to past stories to cameos from less-known comic book arcs.

Some people who show up in a scene don’t show up again, like the Abomination who appeared in Shang-Chi and will appear in the new She-Hulk show on Disney+.

Many assume that the movie may be his last appearance as Strange in the MCU with Wong being Sorcerer Supreme at the moment. That was discussed in Spiderman: No Way Home.

The first trailer for the movie gave us hints at Strange being facing a huge turmoil. Leaks have proven that there might be heavy and consequential damages for Strange.

With that said, it is fair to believe that Strange ‘might’ be favoring an end here, leading to a huge vacuum of magic in the MCU.

So if Doctor Strange dies, who might take on the mantle of sorcerer leadership in the MCU. We have you covered on that.

Who Might Replace Strange?

In a new source, viewers have claimed a missed out easter egg that hints to a huge new change for magic in the MCU. This was seen in the Post-Credits scene for The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2.

Post the death of Yondu, The Ravagers take a step to fulfill what Yondu couldn’t as a sign of their remorse for Yondu’s death. Among one of these Ravagers was Krugarr, a galactic robot who uses the same magic as Doctor Strange to form a thumbs up.

Remember now? If not, here’s the scene.

A New Sorcerer Supreme

In the comic books, Krugarr was the Sorcerer Supreme. He learned magic from Doctor Strange. Now, if all goes well for Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and awry for Wong (hopefully not), then we might be seeing Strange take the mantle of the Ancient One, Krugarr take the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme, and Wong be like… Wong.

Krugarr, an extraterrestrial magician, has been rumored to be in the new Doctor Strange movie and maybe even in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3.

Since the director, James Gunn himself gave enough evidence that Vol.3 would be the final outing, The Ravagers might take the mantle for a new set of space adventures.

This very well can prove Krugarr encountering Doctor Strange and learning the mystical arts. Doctor Strange has to retire and his death has been very well mentioned in various ways through the comics and even the latest comic book title to his misfortunes.

But would Marvel easily allow a character like Krugarr to take over the magic of the MCU. Such a decision requires a long setup for the audience to accept him in the position of Strange. At the moment, Marvel may have other feasible options.

Agatha Harkness

Agatha Harkness is one of Marvel Comics’ oldest magical characters, having a life expectancy that might extend millennia. After so many years in the Marvel universe, she is now an expert in the mystical art of witchcraft, even tutoring the Scarlet Witch.

Although she has a malicious streak in the comic book, Agatha isn’t as much of a villain as she is in the MCU’s WandaVision.

Sorcerers Supreme have held the mantle despite their moral ambiguity before, and it doesn’t appear to have hindered them. And Agatha, who just returned from a stint in the afterlife, is also open to the idea.

Nico Minoru

After inheriting the Staff of One, a magical item that allows its bearer to perform any spell they can conceive, Nico Minoru of the Runaways fumbled her way into magic by discovering that she could only cast one spell at a time.

Fortunately, Nico was a natural at using the Staff, and she’s gained a wealth of new magical knowledge as a result.

Nico’s inexperience makes her a long shot for the position of next Sorcerer Supreme. Even though she lacks the intelligence required for the position, her ownership of the Staff of One and her own death and resurrection have left her with far more magical power.

However, now that Runaways is over, Nico may be searching for a new spot to show up.

Wiccan

Wiccan is a mutant who can use magic to change the world around him, a skill that comes naturally to him. On the other hand, he’s developed into a much more accomplished sorcerer, with his own unique set of magical skills and abilities.

Because of his ancestry as a member of the Demiurge, a family of naturally gifted magicians; He is well-suited to assume the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme if the Ancient One so chooses to teach him as she did Stephen Strange.

Doctor Doom

One of Marvel’s most feared and reviled foes is Dr. Doom, a master of both science and sorcery. Doom’s magical abilities are considered to be second only to Strange’s, and the two have fought off in the past to test their respective magical powers. At least one other near-future scenario has Doom as the next Sorcerer Supreme in at least one part of the Multiverse.

Dr. Voodoo

Jericho Drumm, or Doctor Voodoo, is the only surviving person to have been awarded the title of Sorcerer Supreme after Strange’s death. Sorcerer Supreme responsibilities were left unfulfilled for a while when Doctor Strange was incapacitated, and so the title was passed down to Doctor Voodoo, a character from the 1970s who rose to prominence as an Avenger and one of Marvel’s greatest sorcerers.

At the end of the fight between Voodoo and Agamotto, in which Agamotto had been on a rampage, Agamotto killed Voodoo in order to take over as Sorcerer Supreme. Sorcerer Supreme’s mantle might shift back and forth so reliably, even when Doctor Voodoo was brought back to life.

Clea

Marvel’s Multiverse features a Sorcerer Supreme in every dimension and reality, and the Dark Dimension, home to the dreadful Dormammu, is no exception. Clea, the niece of Dormammu, is now the Dark Dimension’s Supreme Sorcerer. She is also Strange’s lover. In the narrative Earth X, she was also shown as the future Supreme Sorcerer of Earth.

At the end of the day, it may not be possible to say for sure whether or when the MCU will bring in a new or existing character to replace the next Doctor Strange.

For now, the multiverse is breaking and Strange is in search of Wanda for answers and to help him on this mysterious and frightful journey.

The movies stars Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Mordo, Benedict Wong as Wong and Xochitl Gomez and America Chavez.

Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness is expected to release May 6th worldwide.
