The Obi-Wan Kenobi Teaser Confirms The Luke Skywalker Theory

Disney+ is like the deserts of Tatooine when there aren’t any new Star Wars shows or movies. As a good thing, that’s about to be over. Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to start on May 25 on Disney+, and it will finally tell the story of Kenobi on Tatooine between The Empire Strikes Back and A New Hope. Hayden Christensen will play Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in the TV show. Ewan McGregor will reprise his role from George Lucas’ prequel trilogy.

It’s not clear if young Luke Skywalker will show up in the show because it takes place ten years after the events of Order 66 and his birth.

There have been a lot of rumors and possible leaks about the show’s plot and cast list, especially since there hasn’t been a trailer yet. Lucasfilm has finally given fans some answers about Obi-Wan Kenobi and whether or not there will be more than one meeting between the Jedi Master and Luke and Leia, in the future.

Obi-Wan Is On A Mission To Save Luke

Entertainment Weekly has also released new photos from the new Obi-Wan Kenobi show on Disney+. Kenobi’s goal on Tatooine is to keep an eye on Luke Skywalker.

One picture shows Obi-Wan Kenobi in an empty cave on Tatooine. This is where he keeps an eye on young Luke and shows how the Jedi Master was feeling at the start of the series.

“We find Obi-Wan at the start of our story rather broken, and faithless,” says McGregor. “He has been beaten, and he is a little worn down.”

Kenobi spends his exile days on the sands of Tatooine, far from his people.

The Return Of The Skywalkers

This is in line with earlier rumors and reports that a young Luke and Leia were on the show; as well as Ewan McGregor’s vague answer when asked about the Jedi-to-be’s involvement  in the show.

The Young Luke Skywalker playing s he’s being watched over by Kenobi

I don’t think it’s a big surprise that Obi-Wan Kenobi will have young Luke Skywalker in it. Fans of Star Wars would have been hard-pressed not to show Luke in some way. Kenobi’s mission on Tatooine isn’t very secret, so it would be hard not to.

Still, this means that every Disney+ Star Wars show so far has had Luke Skywalker in it, which is surprising. As a result, Star Wars fans didn’t think they’d see Luke Skywalker again after 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.

However, a young Luke Skywalker is only something that people have seen in animation, like in Star Wars Rebels. A young version of the Jedi is going to be shown in live action for the first time, and it’s going to be interesting to see how that works out. Also, it’s important to point out that Obi-cave Wan’s in this new picture is not where he lived in A New Hope. He takes Luke and Obi-Wan to an old hut on Tatooine, where Obi-Wan shows Luke his father’s lightsaber. Obi-Wan will be moving to the desert planet at some point. It’s not clear how that will affect the tale of this show.

The Story May Revolve Around The Kids

The House of Luke SKywalker on the sands of Tatooine

Obi-Wan Kenobi has never been one to take that risk, but it looks like he will have to take a big one in his new Disney+ show. Luke and Leia’s inclusion in the project has been rumored for months now, and fans have wondered how the two kids would actually be used in the show’s plot.

This is what it looks like. Audiences might see it for the first time soon. In some way, Luke is a part of the series. This story, on the other hand, is more about his bun-wearing twin sister.

This could be the case with Obi-Wan Kenobi starting and ending on Tatooine, but with fans spending very little time on the desert planet during the bulk of this new miniseries. By the second or third episode, fans will be whisked off Tatooine and into this adventure to save the young princess.

It’s here that Obi-Wan and this new Nari character will face off; against the likes of the Inquisitors, the Empire, and maybe even Darth Vader himself. However, by the time A New Hope starts, Obi-Wan Kenobi will be back to watch over Luke. This means that at the end of this series; the ageing Jedi master will likely return to his new home and settle back into hermit life.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi Series will premiere on Disney+ on May 25th.
