When Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) returns in the second season of Netflix’s Witcher adaptation, he will have more on his hands than just monster hunting. Turns out that the entire world has gone to hell.
But Geralt’s focus is elsewhere.
After all, war doesn’t mean much to a Witcher when there are literal monsters to fight. Thankfully, we know what’s coming in this newly released second trailer for The Witcher.
Check out the trailer here:
Geralt and Ciri
The new trailer builds on the little teases we heard and saw during Netflix’s “WitcherCon” early this year. This second trailer focuses on Ciri (Freya Allan) beginning her training. She is all set to become a monster hunter at Kaer Morhen, the infamous Witcher holdout.
But there’s conflict brewing across the Continent, and if not stopped, then it can result in a war between empires. However…it could also reunite Geralt with Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra).
Think that’s it? Of course not.
Anya Chalotra as Yennefer in The Witcher Season 2
A massive war of magic is here, and Yennefer, along with her surviving magical allies, are caught up in it. However, in between wars and training, there will still be plenty of monster hunting as well.
We will see Ciri and Geralt battle some beasts of course. And one of them is a tentacled monster that can disguise itself as a house before revealing its actual form.
So it looks like Ciri’s field training will start quickly. And from the looks of it, she seems to be doing well. After all, with Geralt by her side, she is bound to do well.
New poster for The Witcher season 2
Along with the trailer, a new poster has been released as well. The three main characters look battle-ready, especially Ciri and Geralt, while shadowy Yennefer looks in another direction in the background.
Viewers should be ready to see Geralt and Ciri working together a lot since that is going to be the main theme of season 2. Here’s the official synopsis of:
“Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans, and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.”
The Witcher returns for season 2 on December 17, only on Netflix.
