We know Vesemir as Geralt’s mentor. But we don’t know much about him other than that. Well, The Witcher prequel series titled The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf is about to change all of that.

What Is The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf About?

The prequel series is set before the events of The Witcher series from Netflix and is based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s books of the same name. As indicated above, the Nightmare of the Wolf will follow Vesemir, another Kaer Morhen witcher, who was Geralt’s mentor. The experienced witcher has always been loved by fans of both the games and books even though he has yet to appear in the Netflix live-action series.

But that will change come season 2 when Kim Bodnia will portray Vesemir. His advice and wisdom will guide Geralt when he’s confused and conflicted, especially when deciding to take care of Ciri.
Here’s the official synopsis of The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf from Netflix:

“Escaping from poverty to become a witcher, Vesemir slays monsters for coin and glory, but when a new menace rises, he must face the demons of his past.”

As for the voice cast, James will be joined by Lara Pulver as Tetra, Mary McDonnell as Lady Zerbst, and Graham McTavish as Deglan.

The Prequel Series Will Wow Everyone

Based on this teaser trailer, the show looks nothing like we have ever seen before. Here we see a young Vesemir who once looked like Henry Cavill. Now, Geralt hasn’t mentioned how old he is, but he’s anywhere from 70 to 90 years old. And he does act his age. He isn’t brash and instead acts after thinking about his options. The same goes for Vesemir who is even older.

But that’s not the witcher we see in Nightmare of the Wolf. In the prequel, Vesemir throws gold, makes quips, flirts, and winks. So he’s basically like a young man who has access to unlimited power. But what’s left is humility, and he will get that in the series. How exactly will that happen? For that, you have to check out the series on August 23rd.
