It has only been a couple weeks since Netflix dropped the second season of The Witcher. Immediately after the premiere, the show gained praise and admiration. Netflix clocked over 142 million viewing hours in only three days. And now, the franchise has officially confirmed a third season. Obviously, Henry Cavill will continue to lead the show as the titular character. Moreover, production is currently working on a prequel series, The Witcher: Blood Origin, due to release next year.

The Witcher Starrer Henry Cavill’s Works

With two seasons already aired, The Witcher tells the tale of Geralt Rivia (Henry Cavill), who is a monster hunter. His kind, the “witchers”, only have a bunch still surviving. Season 2 of The Witcher started exactly where the previous season finale left off. Geralt and Ciri, bound by the Law of Surprise, find their way towards each other. Their story as they journey the Continent is jam-packed with perils and politics.

Henry Cavill has earned a reputable place in the industry. The British actor is known as the face of many franchises. Mainly as Superman in the DC Extended Universe and as antagonist August Walker in Mission: Impossible – Fallout. Clearly, the franchise business is something Cavill has gotten used to by now. And on many occasions the star has rendered his love for all the roles he acts for.

The Witcher Cinematographer Praises Henry Cavill’s Devotion

Romain Lacourbas, cinematographer for The Witcher Season 2, recently was in an exclusive interview with Looper. In a conversation, Lacourbas expressed his admiration for Cavill. He opened up about how devoted Cavill is towards his character Geralt. When asked about Cavill’s participation in properly fleshing out Geralt’s character, Lacourbas described the actor as “extremely collaborative”. He also added that Cavill was “one of the people who knows the books the best.” Other than that, Lacourbas praised Cavill for always being “extremely generous and extremely professional.” Read his full comments below:

“He’s extremely collaborative — him, Lauren and possibly a couple of other producers. Henry’s one of the people who knows the books the best, as well as all the scripts the best. It’s really amazing how much he knows — all the lines of all characters. It’s really amazing. He’s really collaborative,” Lacourbas enthused. “He would sometimes come to discuss an idea or to suggest an idea, but he would never push for it. If he came to talk about a shot and asked for a reason why the camera was [in a particular spot], it was really rare. It would always be for the purpose of the story. He was extremely generous and extremely professional.”

As dedicated as Cavill is on the set, Lacourbas said the actor makes it a point to lighten up the atmosphere during shooting by providing the cast and crew with some laughs. “Of course, that happens, although it was not a tense set or anything. Believe me, the general ambience was really nice,” Lacourbas told Looper.

“Of course, there are some jokes sometimes. He is cracking jokes from time to time, and there is a time for that, as always, on the set. But most of the time, it’s about, for him and for all the other actors, to tell you the truth, it’s about being focused. But yeah, there was a very good atmosphere.”

It is no news that actor Henry Cavill is very thorough with his research regarding certain roles. Moreover, Cavill tries his best to provide significant input and to be present for character discussions. He also pitches, in his opinion, on how scenes must act out. And as if that’s not enough, the actor pushed himself through a severe leg injury. When filming for The Witcher Season 2, a particular action sequence cost Cavill a hamstring injury on set. When talking about the topic, Lacourbas explained that Cavill had “to train even harder,” after the leg injury. He said that Cavill was “waking up at half past 4 in the morning” to fit in stunt training before coming to set and having “makeup, hair, prosthetics, and contact lenses” to transform him into Geralt.

Fans are already aware of how fond Cavill is of The Witcher franchise. Besides, Cavill is also keen on learning more about every role he plays.
