Netflix’s long-awaited fantasy drama ‘’The Witcher’’ is in wraps as per a new video that surfaced on the internet. The short video gives us a look at the new set and hints wrap-up for season 2 of live-action adaption of the polish author Andrzej Sapkowski’s books published in the 1990s. Fans were thrilled to have an update on the upcoming season of the Witcher — after making it one of the most successful shows of Netflix in the year 2019 when it first premiered.
Henry Cavil plays the titular character adorning gorgeous silver tresses — monster hunter Geralt of Rivia. The story follows him and his chronicles in the magical landscape. The series has cast, including the English breakout star Anya Chalotra who plays the witchy love interest Yennefer, Freya Allen as Princess Ciri, and Joey Batey as the humorous bard Jaskier.
The Witcher’s season 2 was scheduled to be shot earlier but got delayed as most of the world shut due to the pandemic in 2020. Many crew members also got tested positive for Covid-19, including actor Kristofer Hivju. The lead actor Henry Cavill also had an injury of the hamstring— talk a rough year.
But with the world adjusting to new normal, the fans of the books, series, and one of the most successful role-playing video games (The books were also adapted into video games franchise in 2007) were thrilled to know that season 2 of the mystical saga has wrapped up.
The Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich (the umbrella academy) and her other executive producers cryptically announced the show wrap. In the video, she deletes the pre-set alarms. The fans are excited and thrilled, but as the release date of the magical saga is yet to be announced, it’s a fair bet not to anticipate it before the end of the current year or the start of the next year. Since season 1 is primarily derived from the books ‘The Last Wish’ and ‘Sword of Destiny’ — speculation is rife that the upcoming season is heavily based on the third instalment of franchise novels “Blood of Elves. According to the storyline of the book, Season 2 will showcase the evolved bond of Geralt and Ciri and Ciri’s training as a witcher in his childhood house of Kaer Morhen.
Witcher is becoming one of Netflix’s Holy Grail series as multiple projects and spinoffs centred around it are in makes. Two prequels, one of which is animation-based and the other a live-action — Witcher seems to be one of the most bankable Netflix series. As for now, the fans are hanging in tight — waiting for season 2 of the magical saga to whisk them into the world of Gerald.
