After the thriving run of Season 2, Netflix is now working towards creating The Witcher Season 3. The new chapter definitely has to meet high standards. And to do that, it must make sure to give equal importance to the supporting characters. The Witcher Season 3 is set to sketch out a world more fascinating than even Season 1 and 2.

To achieve that aesthetic, the show must try not to dismiss interesting and riveting supporting characters. The others should get equal, if not more, part in the greater narrative as Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra), and Cirilla “Ciri” of Cintra (Freya Allan). Secondary characters such as Jaskier (Joey Batey) and Nivellen (Kristofer Hivju) are just as prominent names on the Continent. And their place in the mystical universe of The Witcher must be acknowledged.

Along with developing the three main characters, The Witcher Season 3 should highlight the stories of its side characters, too. If the upcoming season succeeds in doing so, the overall experience will be a more immersive one. This is because if a character is properly developed, there is more scope for the audience to relate to them. A powerful ensemble of supporting characters is certain to pull audiences deeper into the mystical lore of The Witcher. Thus, allowing the audiences to invest their time and emotions into the story and all the characters.

Jaskier And Witchers In Season 2

Jaskier
Joey Batey, The Witcher

For instance, Jaskier’s narrative in The Witcher Season 2 allows him to become more than just a bard with catchy songs. He smuggles the elves to a safer location by risking his own life. Thus earning the name of the Sandpiper. If The Witcher Season 3 sees Jaskier revealing his shenanigans to Geralt, their friendship will cross another level. This is because Jaskier’s character development from a cheerful, albeit annoying, bard to a savior for the needy is quite unique. However, the story could have shed more light on Jaskier’s own thoughts behind doing this.

Also, the other Witcher at Kaer Morhen could also get some focus. The Witcher Season 2 did introduce audiences to a bunch of them. But not enough to form a connection with either. Especially when compared to Geralt. So if any of the Witchers are involved in Season 3, they could provide a fresh perspective.

More Scope For Characters In Season 3

The Witchers at Kaer Morhen

Furthermore, The Witcher Season 3 should develop characters like Jaskier, the other remaining Witchers, Nenneke (Adjoa Andoh), Nivellen, and some interesting new faces from The Witcher Season 2. In addition to Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer, The Witcher has a strong set of side characters. And they are equally important to the story. Which is why they should get the same significance and appreciation. And they should be fleshed out with the utmost precision as the main trio.

If there is one factor that the legendary fantasy show Game of Thrones makes sure to not overlook, it is the proper care given to each character throughout the seasons. It is true that The Witcher would rather stand out in many aspects. But fleshing out the secondary characters with patience will only do the Netflix series any good.

Characters With Potential

Fringilla and Cahir in The Witcher Season 2

With that said, The Witcher series has a bunch of intriguing characters such as Fringilla (Mimi Ndiweni), Tissaia (MyAnna Buring), Vilgefortz (Mahesh Jadu), and Francesca (Mecia Simson). The lot can compare to Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri regarding appeal. Which is why they must get the same treatment as the main characters. The entire approach will prove to be profitable for the show. Because by properly carving out their supporting characters, the creators of The Witcher will be able to display their impeccable writing. Thus engaging the audience and gaining a wider fanbase for the franchise.

In addition to this, The Witcher Season 3’s overall idea for paying more attention to side characters will allow the main characters more room to explore their relationships. Since they would not just be making acquaintances with surface characters. Thus, it is highly necessary for The Witcher Season 3 to attentively carve out its supporting characters and give them a compelling narrative.
