The Witcher was a record-breaking hit for Netflix and the streaming giant anticipated this even before the show premiered. After all, this is why they renewed the show for season 2 even before the first one premiered in 2019. However, that early renewal didn’t really help since covid resulted in significant filming delays for season 2. In fact, it affected the show so much that even a character had to be recast.
However, there’s some good news to share after all the delays. For one, shooting has been completed and secondly, fans could see some season 2 scenes really soon.
Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich revealed in April that the show had wrapped after shooting on 15 locations with 89 cast and more than 1200 crew members. Now the showrunner has taken to Twitter to announce something more interesting about season 2.
The showrunner has said that she is ‘deep in post-production of season 2 of The Witcher. So this definitely means that there’s a chance that fans will be able to see some great put together footage. Also, since Lauren herself is ‘so fucking excited’ so it’s time that everyone else too starts to be so. After all, post-production on the entire show doesn’t need to be completed for a trailer or teaser to show up.
Also, know that network shows have episode trailers as well. Not to mention the fact that shows just don’t like giving away what will happen towards the tail end of the show. As such, a trailer could be near. Now, to guess if a trailer will indeed show up in the next few weeks or not, we can take a look at the season 1 trailer timeline for guidance.
The first The Witcher teaser dropped in late July in 2019. This was around 5 months from the actual December premiere of the show. So if a trailer or teaser is indeed being planned, then the season 2 release could happen way earlier.
However, it should be said that the July teaser for season one was made to premiere it on the SDCC Witcher panel. Now, we can only hope that we don’t have to wait for the next SDCC virtual panel to check out the next piece of Witcher footage.
In all honestly, we don’t think that the powers-that-be will be waiting much longer to release a trailer. So fans can start hoping for a surprise season 2 teaser soon. After all, if Stranger Things can drop a trailer out of nowhere, then we can definitely expect something like that for The Witcher season 2.
