She-Hulk: Attorney at Law has seen several characters both heroes and villains. However, there seems to be a recurring character who has pretty much no superpowers other than being rich. Yes, we are talking about Todd Phelps, the creepy guy with the She-Hulk fetish who is also a client of GLK and H firm. He appears in She-Hulk episode 8 as well. We are here to explore whether he is just some random comic relief or something far more sinister.

In She-Hulk episode 8, Todd Phelps calls She-Hulk and tells her to meet him asap for an urgent matter. He even threatens to contact Holliway if she’s not on time. When Jen does meet him, it does not seem to be an emergency at all. Todd is lounging around in a bar, drinking. Here he tells her that he bought an authentic Wakandan spear. He also mentions how he has a thing for collecting “African stuff”. This might actually be a far more important line than him just being white and racist. But of course, then he makes an inappropriate advance on She-Hulk and she gets out of there immediately. Before that, he even showed her a picture of the said spear. Considering how rich he is, it’s no surprise that he bought it but the real question is, is Todd collecting Vibranium?

At the end of She-Hulk episode 6, we were shown a lab where technicians were tracking Jen Walters and her vitals. This is also where we saw HulkKing’s message to the anonymous mastermind. We have previously theorized that the Leader is the mastermind but there may be more players involved. Now, in this lab we saw some metal syringes being set up that would then be used to pierce Jen’s skin and extract her blood.

Now that we know Josh was only interested in Jen’s blood, this scene makes a lot of sense. We were wondering how they were keeping tabs on Jen during the wedding. The answer is Josh. It also makes sense that they showed the syringe right after the shot of Josh and Jen. The syringe was probably the same one that he then used on Jen. We theorize that this syringe could be made out of Vibranium since most other metals would be unable to penetrate She-Hulk’s skin. This brings us back to Todd. Since he has shown interest in Wakandan or African artefacts, a lot of them must be made of Vibranium.

What is his end goal?

Todd has shown an extreme interest in She-Hulk’s powers and even called her a specimen on one occasion. So it is possible that he has been funding the entire mission of the Intelligencia in taking down She-Hulk. He could also be trying to increase his reserve of Vibranium and used some of it for the syringes. The Intelligencia too have shown interest in Wakanda and its Vibranium in the Marvel comics. In fact, Doctor Doom was also once a part of this team. And we all know about Doom’s obsession with the Vibranium reserve in Wakanda. Moreover, Todd could be experimenting on Jen’s blood to somehow create another Hulk or even turn himself into one.

This theory might sound farfetched to you. But there does not seem to be any other reason for Todd to appear as often as he does if he does not have a larger role to play. However, he probably isn’t the main mastermind since he does not look that smart. What do you think about our theory? Do let us know!
