Tim Roth, who played Abomination in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, revealed that the Disney+ show almost included a direct reference to Deadpool. During an unspecified scene, Roth’s character was supposed to walk behind something while some superhero action was going on and ask the other characters if that was Deadpool. However, the improvised line was cut from the show.
Comparisons Between She-Hulk And Deadpool
Even before the show premiered, many people were comparing She-Hulk: Attorney at Law to the Deadpool movies due to its fourth-wall breaks, which marked the first time the MCU had used this technique. While some accused the show of ripping off Deadpool, comic book fans pointed out that She-Hulk’s source material already featured meta humor before Deadpool.
Why A She-Hulk And Deadpool Team-Up Would Be Great
Although the reception to She-Hulk: Attorney at Law was more mixed among audiences, there is still potential for a team-up between the two characters. The show already demonstrated some of the benefits of a fourth-wall-breaking hero in the MCU, with She-Hulk invading Marvel Studios in the hopes of fixing her show’s messy and overstuffed finale. As for Deadpool, his delayed arrival in the MCU has already been referenced in the show. However, with Deadpool 3 set to be released in November 2024 and scheduled to begin filming in May, a crossover could still happen.
Other Deadpool References In She-Hulk: Attorney at Law
While the show did not include the direct reference to Deadpool that was initially planned, it did mention a close associate of the Merc with a Mouth. In one scene, Jen, played by Tatiana Maslany, directly asks K.E.V.I.N., a Kevin Feige parody, when the X-Men would be introduced to the MCU. Although the mutants have been teased in various ways, including Patrick Stewart’s Professor X appearing in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Deadpool will be the first mutant to arrive in the MCU.
