Spider-Man is one of the most well-known superheroes of all time. The character is known in the Marvel universe for being an ordinary teenager who deals with personal problems as much as he battles his enemies. Despite all of his iterations and adaptations, the character never had a true successor unless  Miles Morales, who took over the role of Spider-Man after the demise of his universe’s Peter Parker. Since his debut, he has become very popular and is arguably capable of competing with leading marvel heroes.

With the release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse quickly approaching, let’s take a look at different variants of Miles Morales across comic books, video games, movies, and TV series.

Miles first appeared in Marvel’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends on August 6, 2021, a Disney Junior children’s animated series.
He wanted to change his superhero name because he shared it with his best friend, Peter. Inspired by one of his moves, he later received his own superhero name. Spin replaced Spider-Man as his current name.
His skills and abilities are the same as his 616 counterpart, and he is voiced by Jakari Fraser.

Miles appears to have better control over his powers than his Earth-1610 version. This could be because his mentor, Peter, is still around and has trained him.
After being bitten by a radioactive spider, young Miles Morales got Spider-Man’s powers as well as some spectacular fresh ones.
He is a master of advanced hand-to-hand combat, having beaten Iron-fist in a fist fight.

When Peter Parker mysteriously disappeared and was assumed dead, Miles took up the role of Spider-Man. Peter finally returned and recruited Miles as part of the next era of superheroes.
A dying Otto Octavius approached Miles and switched their brains. Otto hid his identity from Peter by possessing Miles’ body.
When Peter learned of Otto’s possession of Miles, he used the memories of Aunt May to get Otto to release Miles. When the spaceship they were on began to self-destruct, Peter placed Miles in the only escape pod and sacrificed himself to secure Miles’ safe arrival on Earth. Mary Jane gave Miles the original Spider-Man outfit to honor Peter.

Miles Morales is a genius inventor who happens to be one of Peter Parker’s best friends at Horizon High. Miles obtained spider powers after being bitten by a genetically enhanced bio-electric spider. Miles fought crime while wearing his own Spider-Man outfit and discovered that Peter was Spider-Man. Miles now works alongside Spider-Man to safeguard New York.
After defeating Kraven the Hunter, Spider-Man unmasked and disclosed to Miles his real identity as Peter Parker, trusting him with the secret. When their colleagues Gwen Stacy and Anya Corazon developed spider-like abilities, the four teenagers formed a vigilante superhero team.

When a villain known as the Unmaker shattered all of the world’s technology, Miles merged with the Venom symbiote, and the two of them formed a relationship during the early years of reconstruction. The Carnage symbiote, however, violently attached itself to Miles, corrupting the Venom symbiote in the process, and the two symbiotes freely decided to serve the monstrous mutant Apocalypse in return for a spaceship to escape to Earth before the Unmaker woke up.
Peter Parker and his team of heroes eventually rescued Miles from the Venom/Carnage symbiote.

He is a seventeen-year-old youngster and the son of police officer Jefferson Davis and council member Rio Morales. He is also close to Ganke Lee, who is aware of his true identity and assists him on missions.
Miles Morales (of Earth-1048) is a Miles Morales variant that appears in the PS4 titles Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Following his father’s death, Peter befriends Miles and introduces him to the  F.E.A.S.T. shelter, where he can assist. Miles is clueless about Peter’s secret identity as Spider-Man, the masked superhero Miles idolises. He soon gains spider-like abilities, which he discloses to Peter, who then reveals himself to be Spider-Man. Miles attempts to become New York City’s next superhero with Peter’s help.

Miles Morales (Earth-14261) is a slightly better and older version of the ultimate Miles Morales who lives in a world where Peter Parker’s Spider-Man was not killed by the Green Goblin. In this universe, Miles transforms into Spider-Man and is mentored by the Iron Spider, Peter Parker.
Miles also joins The Ultimates, a team made by Peter Parker.

This incarnation is identical to his comic book counterpart in that he must inherit the mantle of his universe’s Spider-Man once Peter Parker dies. Miles donned a red and black version of the old Spider-Man outfit, which is actually one of Peter Parker’s old outfits that Miles altered and spray painted over.

Not only do fans get to experience Miles’ trip alongside the rest of the spider-people, but the movie isn’t hesitant to highlight how regular he is. His mistakes and uncertainties were all locked up in his individuality as Spider-Man.

A group of monsters known as the Germs destroyed most of Earth in an alternate reality. Brooklyn was one of the few areas to survive, shielded from The Germs and those with ill intentions. Miles was elected mayor of the city after going public as Spider-Man. Following the arrival of Luis and Ana in Brooklyn, Spider-Man and his security troops fought Captain Last and his One America Army in Jersey City. Captain Last had fused with a Germ not long after, allowing him to breach Brooklyn’s shield. Spider-Man used his full might to slay Captain Last, pushing the army out of town at the expense of his own death.
