Over the years, we have seen various characters return to life in the MCU even after they have died. Of course, Quicksilver is a unique exception to this. Now, as per new rumours, another character is soon coming back from the dead. And it’s none other than Ultron. We saw him die back in the Avengers: Age of Ultron movie. But did he? Let us explore this rumour.

Ultron Possibly Coming Back To The MCU

The Cosmic Circus reports that:

“According to one of our sources, the Ultron A.I. was not destroyed in the wake of Avengers: Age of Ultron, and remnants of the Ultron A.I. are still active but ‘dormant.'”

It’s possible that he has been lying dormant till now, and Feige and co., are planning something big for him. After all, it’s interesting that even though the character was annihilated years back, he has been continuously mentioned in the MCU. The most immediate result of the actions of the Rogue A.I. were the events of Captain America: Civil War regarding the Sokovia Accords.

After that an Ultron variant was the main villain in the What If…? animated series. Next up, his good variants were seen in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. And most recently, in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, there is a slight joke about the AI. Queen Ramonda says that AI will one day kill us. Shuri laughs at the joke, but canonically, a rogue AI did try to indeed kill everyone..

How Can The Rogue AI Return?

In Age of Ultron, the AI is seemingly killed. But Tony Stark says something very interesting about it. He says that until and unless they destroy every trace of him, Ultron could find a way of coming back. And is everything about Ultron destroyed? We don’t think so. After all, in Spider-Man: Homecoming itself there’s an Ultron head with the D.O.D.C (Department of Damage Control).

So it certainly could indicate that there’s a plan for him further down the line. But The Cosmic Circus reports that:

“When, where, and how Ultron returns still hasn’t been determined.”

However, there are 2 projects we know of where Ultron can possibly return. One of that is Armor Wars. We don’t know much about the plot of the movie except that the story will revolve around the idea of Tony Stark’s tech being used by the wrong people. And if there’s one thing that can access Tony’s tech, then it’s Ultron.

The next project that can bring Ultron back is of course, Vision Quest starring Paul Bettany. The project is far off and we know even less about it than Armor Wars. But it will reportedly involve Vision trying to get his humanity and memory back. And during this, he could regain how/ why he was born. Also, this might just reactivate any of Ultron’s remnants in his brain.
