A team of Dark Avengers is being assembled by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. However, she runs into a snag when trying to enlist Thor. The Contessa, who made her MCU debut in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, has appeared in only two other films, Black Widow and The Avengers. It’s becoming increasingly clear that she’s putting together her own team, despite the fact that there are still many unanswered questions about her identity.

Captain America’s former sidekick, John Walker, was recruited by Val in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. It didn’t take long for the United States government to turn on him after he went on a rampage in Europe and was given the title of “next Star-Spangled Avenger.” The Contessa saw this as a potential to introduce him into her own team, even though he had been stripped of his title. Yelena Belova has been revealed to have been hired as the new Black Widow by Black Widow. The Avengers: Iron Man, Hulk, Hawkeye, and Thor are all likely on her list of targets.

Replacing Everyone With God Of Thunder

It’s possible that Val’s Dark Avengers will be able to get replaced, except for the God of Thunder. As Contessa’s Hulk and Hawkeye, Tim Roth and Alaqua Cox’s Abomination and Echo could be a formidable team. Meanwhile, Sam Rockwell’s Justin Hammer, who is rumored to be returning to the MCU via Armor Wars, can serve as the Dark Avengers’ Iron Man.

Unfortunately for her, she would have a difficult time finding a suitable replacement for Thor. The elder Odinson was an anomaly in the MCU’s original Avengers lineup because he was an Asgardian prince. Because he’s the only one who doesn’t live on Earth, If Loki had not led the attack in New York, Nick Fury’s initiative would not have included him. To find someone like Thor, Val can’t just go around looking for someone like him, because that’s extremely unlikely.

Val’s Dark Avengers Could Be Better

There’s always the likelihood that Val will travel to New Asgard in search of a God of Thunder. While it’s possible that she won’t come across anyone as powerful as Thor, there’s a slim chance that she will. Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor is being introduced by Marvel Studios, but it’s highly unlikely that she’ll join the Dark Avengers. If anything, Contessa’s team is distinct from the original Avengers because its members are more virtuously malleable, effectively nullifying Jane from joining the new squad. Based on their previous encounters in the series, it appears that she is more principled than Thor. There isn’t anyone else who could be the Dark Avengers’ version of Thor beside her.

When it comes to moving forward, Val’s Dark Avengers team could go on without its God of Thunder counterpart. It’s possible she’s not even considering adding an Asgardian to her team of Dark Avengers. Other magic users who can still function like Thor on the original Avengers roster might be on her radar instead.
