Tom Hardy, the film’s star, provides an interesting update for Venom 3. Sony is still developing its Spider-Man universe and has multiple movies in development. Among these is Venom 3, a film from the Spider-Man-inspired universe that is part of the Venom film series. The Symbiote and Hardy’s Eddie Brock were momentarily glimpsed in Spider-Man: No Way Home after being brought into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though it didn’t lead to any major plotlines.

Hardy initially portrayed Eddie Brock in the original 2018 movie, when he fought the Riot symbiote and Carlton Drake, its host (Riz Ahmed). When you consider that only Tom Hardy is essentially talking to himself throughout the movie, the interplay between the two actors is especially amusing. The British actor also provided the voice for the Venom symbiote.

With the release of Venom: Let There Be Carnage in the fall of 2021, fans have been anxiously awaiting the return of Brock and his extraterrestrial best friend.

Tom Hardy just revealed that Venom 3 is in the pipeline by releasing a deleted clip from the original 2018 film.

Eddie Brock left a little bit of the Venom symbiote in the Marvel Cinematic Universe when he was last seen in the post-credits sequence of Spider-Man: No Way Home. It was evident at the end of that sequence that he and the symbiote had been transported into another universe. With the third movie’s announcement at last year’s Cinema-Con, it became obvious that Sony still has additional stories to tell with the character. However, nothing further was revealed.

After Hardy’s cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home, updates on the development of Venom 3 have been scarce. Following several months of no news, Hardy announced on Instagram that Venom 3 is now officially in pre-production.

In the deleted sequence, Eddie Brock, played by Hardy, and the titular symbiote argue as they go to the hospital. The Venom symbiote’s refusal to enter the hospital results in a heated quarrel that attracts the attention of onlookers. After learning that his ex-fiancee Anne is there, Eddie is able to persuade the symbiote to allow him to enter the hospital.

Hardy indicates in the caption that pre-production has started on the upcoming Venom movie:

“Whilst working on V3 pre prep […] this throwback came up,”

What We Know So Far About Venom 3 !

Sony Pictures has not yet set an official release date for Venom 3, and the film’s final title is still up in the air. By the end of October 2022, Kelly-Marcel had been formally chosen to helm and pen Venom 3.
Sony’s CinemaCon 2022 event featured the announcement of Venom 3. While story elements are still unknown, a reputable industry insider said in December 2021 that the third Venom movie will “explore the multiverse” and include “Venom eventually meeting and confronting Spider-Man,” notably the Andrew Garfield Wall-Crawler.

Marcel has written and produced the first two films in the Venom trilogy, so she is no stranger to the series. The screenplay will be co-written by Hardy and the Venom 3 director.

Apart from Hardy, the only other cast member expected to return for Venom 3 is Michelle Williams as Anne Weying. Sony Pictures is unsure if Williams is formally associated with the film despite her indicated interest. It’s also unclear whether Venom 3 will handle the story point established by Hardy’s Spider-Man: No Way Home appearance, in which a fragment of the Symbiote remains trapped in the MCU.

The more pressing concern is whether Hardy will continue working on Sony’s Spider-Man Universe beyond Venom 3.

After Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Kraven the Hunters in 2023 and prospective series openers El Muerto and Madame Web (both 2024), Venom 3 is anticipated to be the eighth movie in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. With the Venom movies and Morbius (2022) bringing in a combined $1.53 billion at the global box office, the SSU franchise has established itself as a lucrative one for Sony.
