Vincent D’Onofrio has quite a lot to explain. Aside from the hype surrounding NWH, Marvel Studios is also delivering big things to the Disney+ world. This includes the final episode of the Hawkeye Disney+ series. A season-long storey focus was made on the original Avengers’ master archer. This story has caused some central plot and character decisions that could have unforeseen ramifications in the future.

Wilson Fisk’s full MCU debut was one of the most important choices, literally and figuratively. After Marvel Studios and Vincent D’Onofrio brought the Kingpin rumours to life over the summer. As the Kingpin from Netflix’s Daredevil series, he immediately impacted Hawkeye. These include his ties to Maya Lopez, the Tracksuit Mafia, and Eleanor Bishop.

Wilson Fisk’s identity has long been a source of debate for fans of Marvel’s Daredevil. Exactly what do you mean by the phrase “true crossover?”. A recent interview with D’Onofrio indicates that the MCU baddie is about to get some much-needed attention.

The Kingpin of Hawkeye And Daredevil Are Not The Same

D’Onofrio talked to Cinema Blend about the new Kingpin that debuted in Episode 6 of the show. Specifically, he addressed whether this Kingpin is the same Kingpin that appeared in all three seasons of Netflix’s Daredevil series.

D’Onofrio admitted that some “dots cannot be connected” when it comes to the two characters. With Hawkeye, the team “tried to do the same thing” as possible as Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has tried to do for a long time with interconnectivity.

“It’s the same character. Yeah, I mean, the way that we saw it on Hawkeye, or [what] I ended up believing, is that there are [as] many dots connected as we can possibly connect, and some are just impossible to connect. But I think… it’s the same as a lot of the MCU stuff that’s done, that Kevin [Feige] does, and all the incredible filmmakers, you know, they try to connect to the original stuff as much as they can. … But then there’s dots that can’t be connected. And I think we tried to do the same thing with connecting Daredevil to… or Hawkeye to Daredevil and Daredevil to Hawkeye. You know, it’s like that.”

Hawkeye Kingpin Is Stronger

With this Kingpin, he’s “physically stronger and can take a lot more physical abuse” than the one from Daredevil, which is one of his iconic traits from the comics.” Actor Vincent D’Onofrio described himself as an “emotional human being” who draws on the lessons he’s learned from his own life experiences to emote onscreen:

“I mean, obviously, my character in Hawkeye is physically stronger and can take a lot more physical abuse. But my approach to him is exactly the same approach that I did on Daredevil. He is an emotional human being, he is a child and a monster simultaneously. The same things that are going on inside me when I’m playing the character, the events that I use, whether the joyful ones or sad ones or frustrating ones or angry ones, the events that I use from my life are the same ones that I used in Daredevil that I used to portray Fisk. So it’s connected, for sure. In my mind, for sure.”

Is Netflix’s Kingpin Canon Compatible With Netflix Shows?

With D’Onofrio’s arrival as Wilson Fisk, Marvel Television shows have become more prominent in the MCU conversation. When Vincent D’Onofrio played Kingpin in the Daredevil series, there was always a chance that he could be the same actor in both films as he was on television.

A close examination of D’Onofrio’s quotes indicates that his two Kingpins cannot be identified as the same person. This is because of plot points that Hawkeye and Daredevil don’t share. That being said, this is almost certainly a new take on Fisk that isn’t going to have the same specific history he had on Netflix.

Fisk Is More Alive Than Ever

Fans should be pleased to know that the actor is doing everything in his power to approach the role in the same way he did in Daredevil. This, of course, already came through with his vocal timbre and the stature he displayed upon his arrival. A comic-accurate and terrifying take on the criminal mastermind could be in store for MCU fans if he’s given an almost inhuman sense of strength that surpasses what he’s shown previously.

It’s unclear where Fisk will appear next. Nonetheless, he’s probably still alive and ready to unleash his full power within the next few episodes.
