Elizabeth Olsen made her MCU Phase 4 appearance in WandaVision on Disney+. And now, the star is all set to display the new version of the Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Marvel Studios will kick off the year 2022 with the sequel. To increase anticipation for the movie, promotional activities are in full buzz. And a major part of this hype comes from Wanda’s story being told after her last intriguing outing on the Disney+ show.

2021 marked the first year for Marvel Studios to deliver shows through a streaming platform. While the MCU is known to have specific connections within its movies, fans are yet to discover the same within the new Disney+ shows.

Fortunately, the Doctor Strange sequel will provide this opportunity by elaborating on the narrative of Olsen’s Scarlet Witch. The recent trailer revealed during the Super Bowl gave us a glimpse of the fully suited-up Scarlet Witch falling down on both knees in front of a Wanda Variant. The scene plays out in the living room of her Westview, New Jersey home.

Recently, new rumors are hinting that THE MCU might flesh out Wanda’s story as told in the House of M run in the comics. To support the theory, we also saw parts of the same teased in WandaVision.

Not only that, Olsen’s co-star Julian Hillard has mentioned House of M in some conversation. And the news only surfaced because of the curiosity that the topic brings.

WandaVision star Julian Hilliard got involved in a fun Q&A session on Twitter. When he was asked about Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the star made subtle references to the House of M story from Marvel Comics.

Along with the caption “some of y’all,” Hillard posted an image of Wanda Maximoff from the comic. The strip included a speech bubble that said “no more rumors”. But in the comics, this bubble read “no more mutants”:

To make matters even more interesting, Hilliard replied to that tweet with an image of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley from the Harry Potter franchise. But the faces of the characters in these pictures were switched to those of John Krasinski, Rainn Wilson, and Jenna Fischer from The Office:

Multiverse Of Madness Rumors Creating Hype On Social Media

The excitement that Spider-Man: No Way Home brought in the months before its release is most definitely the peak of any MCU movie. And it appears as if Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is close to touching base with the same level of craziness. The film is also bringing in an incredible team of characters as the secrets of the Multiverse unfold.

In his last appearance on WandaVision, Julian Hillard’s character showed the true promise for his future in the MCU. And the actor acknowledges the grandiosity that comes with the Doctor Strange sequel.

In the finale of the Disney+ show WandaVision, we saw Wanda hearing about her twin sons. Billy and Tommy were calling her from across the Multiverse as she studied the Darkhold. It is likely that Wanda has personal intentions of finding her sons while she assists Strange in controlling the chaos breaking out in the Multiverse. However, we are still not certain about Wanda’s twin sons returning to the MCU.

The entire storyline aligns perfectly with the House of M story from Marvel Comics. And it is no surprise that there have been some hints regarding the same ever since Wanda Maximoff was introduced into the MCU.

The new trailer also confirmed the role of Patrick Stewart’s Professor X in Doctor Strange 2. It would make sense now if Wanda’s mutant background were given light. Especially after Disney has officially acquired the rights to X-Men. There is still no confirmation to Hillard’s tease and the adaptations from House of M. But the potential still lies ahead.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will arrive in theaters on May 6, 2022. Whereas WandaVision is available to stream on Disney+.
