Before we go ahead and discuss the rings of power, need to mention that, as per the legendarium of the renowned author Tolkien, these three rings were crafted by legendary Elvin craftsman Celebrimbor in secrecy and intended just for the Elves.

Once Celebrimbor learned that Sauron’s true motivations for making the rings were both evil and dangerous, he no longer trusted him, and thus the rings were crafted, and their location was shrouded in secrecy.

Later Gandalf, Elrond, and Galadriel became the keepers of rings, as well as the first users of Elven rings of power. Though these rings were forged unbeknownst to Sauron, he did so using techniques learned from the Dark Lord, such that the rings were imbued with the strength of the One Ring while it was still in Sauron’s control.

At the conclusion of the Third Age, when the One was destroyed, all the three rings became powerless and were carried by their carriers across the ocean.

The Three Rings of Power were:

1. Narya

The first one on your list is Narya, also known as the Red Ring, or Ring of Fire. Celebrimbor, the legendary craftsman crafted the first and presented it to Gil-galad, the King of the Noldor. After his passing, it was taken by Crdan, who eventually handed it to Gandalf following the latter’s return to Middle-earth.

Similar to the other elf rings, Narya also contains a valuable jewel placed in its core, in this instance, a scarlet gem, giving it the moniker of ‘Red Ring’. It may empower its user with endurance and fortitude, allowing them to stand firm against anybody who would dare try to subjugate the Narya’s keeper. Unlike the One Ring, which renders its wearers invisible by teleporting them to the dark realm, this one may be seen only if its owner chooses to reveal it.

2. Nenya

Nenya has several other names, including the White Ring, the Ring of Adamant, as well as the Ring of Water. Together with Narya and Vilya, it forms a part of the Three Rings of Power. Galadriel was given the task of guarding it, and she fulfilled that duty faithfully. It was the strength of this relic that allowed the lady of Lórien to repel Sauron’s invasion of her realm, and hence it was given the name “the ring of beauty.”

The core of the ring was most likely set with a diamond and was crafted from silver or mithril. It boasted the power to protect precious treasures from the ravages of time, keep them out of the grasp of exploiters, and keep them out of the reach of the immoral.

3. Vilya

The sapphire in Vilya’s golden setting was the most powerful component of the legendary Three Rings. Vilya may have offered the capacity to cure and protect, however, this is not explicitly stated.

Elrond’s ability to call down a deluge of flood on the Nazgûl as they tried to bridge the Bruinen has led many to believe that the ring has the power to manipulate the forces. It’s probable that this is the case, given that Galadriel ruled Lothlórien with the help of her magic ring. It’s possible Elrond did the exact same thing at Rivendell with Vilya.
