After breaking his solemn promise not to interfere with the multiverse, The Watcher broke his promise in the season 1 finale of Marvel’s What If…? The Watcher is compelled in What If…? Episode 9 to gather heroes from all over the multiverse in order to take on Infinite Ultron’s multiverse-wide devastation campaign. As much as The Watcher hated making this choice, it pays off in the end, as the heroes defeat Ultron and most of them return to their original timelines. Watcher returns to his role as designated observer of the multiverse, although he is more protective of his “home” than he was at the beginning of the series.

When Will The Watcher Be Seen Again?

Season 2 of What If…? will surely have the character as its narrator, which is an obvious explanation. There’s currently no official release date for What If…? Season 2, so it’s possible we’ll see The Watcher before the second season of the Disney+ animated series releases. This writer believes The Watcher will make an appearance in Doctor Strange: The Multiverse of Madness, to put it simply (and succinctly). Possibly Marvel’s most eagerly awaited Phase Four release, Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania will delve deeper into the cosmos than any other Marvel picture has.

This alone hints that The Watcher could make an appearance in Multiverse of Madness, given his role in the multiverse. Another interesting parallel would be if The Watcher appeared in Multiverse of Madness. in which a gloomy Doctor Strange became the first hero to notice and communicate with The Watcher in the series. With their newfound connection in Season 1’s finale, the Watcher’s reappearance in Multiverse of Madness will be even more intriguing. A quick live-action cameo for The Watcher in Multiverse of Madness would also allow Marvel to leave hints for a future appearance of the figure in the MCU. The Watcher swears to guard it to the end in What If…? Episode 9 when he calls the multiverse his “home.”

Who Is Kang’s Greatest Enemy?

Kang, Watcher And Avengers

Last but not least, in the What If…? there is no doubt that he will continue to keep watch over the universe in the show’s second season and beyond. In the Season 1 conclusion, the character breaks his pledge as new threats to the multiverse surface, implying that The Watcher will have a role in whatever Marvel’s storyline for Kang the Conqueror turns out to be. The Loki Season 1 finale made it clear that Kang poses a danger to all of the MCU’s alternate realities. To The Watcher’s eyes, Kang represents a threat. This will push The Watcher back into action.

In the comics, we’ve previously seen The Watcher break his pledge to stop Kang from causing havoc in the cosmos on several occasions. Nothing says The Watcher in the Marvel Cinematic Universe won’t do the same thing at some point in the near future.

What is the final analysis?

What if…? Season 1 of The Watcher was a practical and enjoyable approach for Marvel to introduce The Watcher to the MCU. The studio’s plans for the character beyond his animated Disney+ series remain a mystery. However, we doubt The Watcher will only appear in What If…? There are too many reasons to care about him to keep him on a single show. Being absent from non-What If…? films and shows wouldn’t make sense, given the character’s multiverse role.

Doctor Strange 2 is the most logical choice for where The Watcher could appear in future MCU films. The film’s multiverse plot makes it the ideal vehicle for the MCU live-action debut of The Watcher, which might be followed by a battle with none other than Kang the Conqueror.
