The formal debut of the X-Men in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been anxiously anticipated by Marvel fans ever since the Disney-Fox merger. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness gave us a peek at Professor X in an alternate reality, while Wanda-Vision hinted that the Scarlet Witch was also born a mutant. But the first person who self-identifies as a mutant in the MCU’s Earth 616 appears in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Namor Is A Mutant

MCU fans saw the word “mutation” in Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel earlier this year. In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Tenoch Huerta‘s Namor name dropped the word “mutant” when addressing himself. Marvel is gradually, but unmistakably, preparing for the mutants in some way or another. As Namor formally addresses the Mutants, it is a momentous moment for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Yet, no information is given regarding the specifics. The possible answer for Namor’s existence is that his people consumed the same rare herb that gave them their powers.

However, Namor possesses a number of other distinctive qualities, such as wings on his feet, about which the film avoids going into too much detail.

Aside from his X-Gene, the film demonstrates how seriously Namor takes his people’s anonymity and how far he will go to maintain it.

It is also made known that he and his people existed for thousands of years.

In order to survive the smallpox that the Spaniards brought with them. The inhabitants of a small Mayan community took an herb they discovered at the bottom of the ocean. That, unknowing to them, had been exposed to radiation from Vibranium. Along with the rest of her family, Fen, who was already carrying a baby, consumed the herb. They were unable to breathe outside of the water since the plant changed their anatomy and biochemistry. Talokan was created when the entire community descended below the surface to live underwater.

Fen’s son was born with mutations brought on by the plant, including the capacity to breathe both above and below the surface of the water, strange physical features like pointed ears, and a pair of flapping wings on both of his ankles that allowed him to fly. His mutation caused him to become the King of Talokan and earned him the title of K’uk’ulkan, the Feather Serpent God. Namor would admit to being a mutant and tell Shuri his tale in the twenty-first century.

Mutants are people born with exceptional abilities, as opposed to superheroes like Spider-Man and Iron Man, who develop their powers through innovation or accident, and gods like Thor, who come from another realm. The X-Men are the most well-known mutants.
