After weeks of foreshadowing Daredevil’s appearance in She-Hulk, Matt Murdock is finally here. He both fights against Jen and teams up with her eventually thus revealing to her his secret identity. The first half of the episode entirely focused on these 2 characters both inside and outside the courtroom. After watching the episode, fans took to Twitter to express their excitement and happiness in seeing the chemistry between Tatiana Maslany and Charlie Cox. In fact, fans want to see more of these two together. So let us explore their relationship in Marvel comics and their future in the MCU.
Jen and Matt even have an adorable meet cute where they meet in the court of law as opposing counsels on a case involving Leap-Frog and Luke Jacobson. With Jen’s client being an absolute dum-dum, she loses the case. Next, we see the two in the bar where lawyers seem to be hanging out. And this is where the flirting starts. Right off the bat, they have something between them. They seem comfortable and at ease with each other and partake in some cute teasing and ribbing. Matt Murdock has his signature charming smile that Jen cannot resist just like the rest of us.
We then see them fight one another when She-Hulk perceives him to be the villain who was attacking her client Leap Frog aka Eugene Patilio. However, she gets the upper hand and takes off his helmet to reveal Matt Murdock inside. After hearing how Leap-Frog had taken Luke Jacobson hostage, she teams up with Daredevil to take down the bad guys. This is obviously followed by adorable flirting throughout their sneak attack. They even have a cute moment when Daredevil can hear Jen’s heart racing. Instead of turning green, Walters literally turned red.
After they took down Leap-Frog, Jen joined Matt on the Lily Pad roof. Here, the tension between them was palpable and Matt even asked her out for dinner the next time he’s be in LA. However, Jen suggested they skip all that and get down to business. Eventually they gave into their desires and spent the night together before Matt had to return to New York. Even during his walk of shame, he looked like a charming devil. In fact, Jen kept breaking the fourth wall to tell us how much she’s into Matt and that they have a thing going on.
Their is no precedence for their romance in the Marvel comics. In fact, they have only conversed a couple of times in the entire history of Marvel. You’d think the lawyer superheroes would have some storylines together but they don’t. However, when they have met in the comics, their relationship seems to be one of mutual respect and slight teasing and flirting. They have also gone against one another in court over a case. Daredevil and She-Hulk seem like friends who help each other out when required. But the MCU could very well deviate from this and put some genuine effort into making their relationship a proper and realistic one. Unlike how Bruce and Natasha were treated.
As for now, things are pretty uncertain with regards to their future in the MCU. But given the reaction of fans, Marvel could consider having She-Hulk cameo in a few episodes of Daredevil: Born Again which is the upcoming Daredevil project. We would get to see Jen in his world for a change. Marvel could also use their dynamic to make her interact with other mainstream MCU superheroes.
