The MCU has been investing a whole lot in its various Disney+ shows. It has been using the shows to introduce several key characters into the MCU such as Moon Knight, She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel. Marvel is also planning on introducing several teams of superheroes within the MCU that will be inspired by the comics. Such as the Marvels, the Young Avengers, Midnight Sons, A-force and of course Agents of Atlas. So let us explore who the Agents of Atlas, led by Jimmy Woo, are and whether or not they will get their own Disney+ TV series.
It is definitely possible that Agents of Atlas will soon evolve into a full-fledged Disney+ TV series. While it has not been announced yet, Marvel Studios is keeping several projects under wraps still. In fact, Kevin Feige himself has fired up these rumors. When asked if the MCU was going to have more South East Asian representation, the Marvel Studios President said the following, “you won’t have to wait there very long at all. We’ve announced a number of shows and we’ve got more in the works.” And for fans who are not aware, Agents of Atlas is a predominantly Asian team of heroes. The team was led by none other than Jimmy Woo. Randall Park who portrays Jimmy Woo is currently set to appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
Furthermore, Shang-Chi who is an integral part of the Agents of Atlas has also been introduced in the MCU. This could be hinting at the possibility that the MCU is preparing and setting up the Agents of Atlas. Another point to note is that the events of Shang-Chi initially take place in San Francisco. And for those who don’t know, San Francisco is also where the Atlas Foundation Headquarters is located.
The Agents of Atlas is basically a secret society that has actually been in the Marvel Universe for centuries. Eventually after several heads of this team came and went, Jimmy Woo was chosen as the successor who would take up leadership of this team. As mentioned before, the team was representative of the Asian superheroes and even had an iteration composed of only Asian supers. Throughout the events of the Avengers, this team was present with Jimmy Woo constantly on the look out for members. In fact, they played an important role during the Secret Invasion and helped defeat the Skrulls. But the best storylines of the Agents of Atlas are those that are rooted in Asia. And we are pretty sure that if the MCU was to explore the Agents of Atlas, then they would show such unique storylines instead of mainstream ones. One of the plots was when Jimmy Woo had to assemble a new team to protect Asia and the people from the Queen of Cinders and Muspelheim.
There have been multiple iterations of the Agents of Atlas. However we will be exploring the members of two such teams. First is the original team. It consisted of 3-D Man, Gorilla-Man, Human Robot, Namora, Uranian, Venus who were led by Jimmy Woo. The second one which is the more important one as well, is the Asian team. It had Jimmy Woo at the helm once again. Its members included Shang-Chi, Silk, Aero, White Fox, Crescent, Luna Snow, and Wave. We will explore the heritage and origins of some of these characters as well.
Pearl Pangan aka Wave is a Filipina Superhero who can control water. Aero is Lei Ling. She is a Chinese architect and is based in Shanghai. Her powers, similar to Wave, involves controlling the element of wind. Ami Han aka White Fox belongs to the South Korean National Intelligence Service. Her mystical Kumiho heritage gifted her with the powers of White fox. This allowed her to communicate with animals and gave her retractable claws. Luna Snow is another South Korean superhero who is also a K-Pop star. The diversity that this team brings to the MCU is absolutely amazing and we really hope they do justice to them.
