In the official trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, around 1 minute 37 seconds, Attuma can be seen jumping out of the water, presumably the ocean. He is seen wielding two massive spears. Attuma’s headgear, armor and weapons look like they have been made from shark bones. He is a part of the empire of Talocan. In fact, by the looks of it, Attuma may just be the villain of the movie. He seems like he will be causing a whole lot of destruction.

Attuma was born in Atlantis and was a part of the kingdom. However, he was banished and exiled from Atlantis at a very young age because of his brutal and aggressive nature. In fact, he belongs to an Atlantean tribe known as Skarka tribe. The entire tribe was was exiled from Atlantis because they sought to overthrow the royal family and conquer the city. They were also considered to be barbaric. This was similar to how the Jabari tribe was viewed in Wakanda. In fact, these two tribes have a lot in common as both of them live in isolation from the rest of the city. Another reason why Attuma was banished was that a prophecy existed that claimed a warrior would be born in the Skarka tribe and he would overthrow Atlantis and conquer the city. Eventually, Attuma became a ruthless, menacing and cunning warrior.

Attuma was not only a villain of Namor the Sub-Mariner. But he has also fought the Fantastic Four on multiple occasions. Attuma attempted to conquer Atlantis while Namor was the ruler. However, him and his armies did not stand a chance against the Atlanteans. In fact, Namor himself defeated Attuma in a one on one battle. Although, Namor was unaware of the fact that he was being aided by Invisible Girl during his bout with Attuma. When working with Doctor Doom, he once again opposed the Fantastic Four. Over his course of attacking Atlantis the several times that he did, there was once when he succeeded. Attuma became the Ruler of Atlantis.

Here are two more points that fans need to know about Attuma with respect to Black Panther 2. The first is that there was an instance in the comics where Attuma and his allies had found a sufficient enough reserve of Nautilium which was a rare metal. With this they constructed a missile launcher that would destroy the surface land if detonated. This could be a possible storyline in Black Panther 2 considering the mining voyages occurring in the ocean. The last point is that Attuma had once come into possession of a tidal wave device. This device was capable of generating huge gigantic waves that could drown entire cities. Considering the images of Wakanda being flooded along with the Throne Room, this device could play a part in the movie.

Tenoch Huerta has stressed on the fact that Namor is not a villain. He is a much more complex character and is considered to be an anti-hero. Namor is a ruler burdened by responsibilities and the duty of protecting his Kingdom and his people. So Attuma might just be the real villain of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. It is also highly likely that Wakanda and Talocan will unite against Attuma and end up settling their differences. This is especially considering the long run time of the movie. We wont have to wait too long, just a month to go till 11th November!
