While Marvel’s Eternals was not very grand in its spectacle, it definitely came with a bunch of interesting surprises. The movie introduced Eternals and Deviants, two mythical supernatural races. Also, the movie’s mid-credits scene revealed another Eternal, Eros/Starfox, played by Harry Styles. Eros is well acquainted with Arishem, the Judge, and the Celestials. At least when compared to the rest of the Eternals.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is constantly delving into Phase 4 by featuring new characters, major events, as well as curious concepts. While one such concept is the Multiverse, Phase 4 is also slowly exploring stories outside the multiversal collapse. Eternals, directed by Chloé Zhao, essentially does an incredible job at incorporating a new team of warriors who have lived in the shadows of the MCU for centuries now.

The Eternals And Their Fate In The Movie

Eternals are an enhanced race of superhuman beings created by the Celestial Arishem. Several centuries back, Arishem sent the Eternals to Earth to protect humankind from the evil Deviants. While Eternals were doing good, the Deviants were their evil counterparts who threatened humans.

The Eternals continued to live on Earth and aided humanity to prosper in all its aspects. However, they were forbidden from gatecrashing their problems. Which is why the team saw a disagreement and decided to go their separate ways. But when the Deviants returned, they killed their leader Ajak (Salma Hayek). Also, the devastating event of creating another Celestial called “The Emergence” was taking place.

All these factors forced the team of Eternals to come together once again. And with the help of their new leader, Sersi (Gemma Chan), they understood the real story about their origins. As well as why they were sent to Earth in the first place. Eventually, most of the team decided to not heed Arishem’s intentions.

Starfox’s Sudden Appearance In Eternals

Towards the end of the movie, we see Ikaris (Richard Madden) fly to the sun. And Sprite (Lia McHugh) willingly asks to be turned into a human. Sersi, Phastos (Brian Tyree Henry), and Kingo (Kumail Nanjiani) decide to continue living the life they created for themselves on Earth. Meanwhile, Thena (Angelina Jolie), Makkari (Lauren Ridloff), and Druig (Barry Keoghan) take the Domo and leave Earth to go on a quest to find other Eternals.

But Arishem was furious. He wouldn’t let their deeds slide away. So he makes a terrifying appearance on Earth to capture Sersi, Kingo, and Phastos. Leaving others clueless about their whereabouts. In the mid-credits scene of Eternals we see Thena, Makkari, and Druig trying to figure out a way to reach out to Sersi, Phastos, and Kingo.

This is when the film introduces a character flying in on the Domo- Eros/Starfox (Harry Styles). Eros is Thanos’ little brother and a fellow Eternal. And as per the scene, he hints at the team that knows about the Celestials, and he could help them find the rest of the team. But we are now wondering as to how Eros is aware of the Celestials in such depth?

The Purpose Of Eternals And Starfox’s Knowledge Of The Celestials

The sole purpose behind creating the Eternals was for the Celestials to carry out their many missions through the teams. Before the Eternals learned about Arishem’s true intentions for sending them to Earth, they had lived on several other planets. But now that the team is aware of the truth, they must understand the Celestials’ order of operations and find other Eternals.

However, it appears as if Starfox is better acquainted with the Celestials. This is because he claims to know where Arishem took Sersi, Phastos, and Kingo. Starfox is a new character in the MCU. Which is why we have no idea about his past. But he and Thanos have led distinct lives on Titan. Unlike other Eternals, they weren’t sent to different planets to fulfill a mission.

This leads us to believe that Starfox has retained all of his memories. Which means he consciously possesses more information about the past and the Celestials. It is likely why he also knows about the rest of the Eternals. The party has had previous encounters, but the Eternals have no recollection of Eros whatsoever.

However, one question that remains unanswered is this. What is Starfox’s link and history with the Celestials? And how does he know so much about Arishem? It appears as if their past was not all sunshine. Since he is aiding the other Eternals find the rest of their team. With that said, a sequel might unfold the mystery around Celestials and the Eternals. Now that Starfox has entered the game, the MCU has a lot more ground to explore with the character’s past.
