When Avengers: Infinity War came out, it reignited the debate about the new owner of Avengers Tower. Avengers: Age Of Ultron forced the superhero team to relocate to a new facility in Upstate New York. This has left many fans wondering about the fate of the iconic tower that served as their base of operations until then. Homecoming shed some light on the matter, revealing in Captain America: Civil War that Tony Stark sold the tower to a mysterious party.

Fans were only able to spot a refurbished Avengers Tower in 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home. It certainly bears little resemblance to the original. After another long absence, the tower was mentioned again in Hawkeye episode 2, “Hide and Seek,” when Clint informed Kate that the tower had been sold years earlier. Kate was in the dark about the tower’s sale, as were the rest of us. As far as we know, no one has been able to locate the tower’s new owner for eight years.

Laying The Groundwork

Since multiple Marvel characters from the comics own Manhattan towers, the new owner of Avengers Tower has been the subject of fan speculation for years. Even so, it’s odd that the MCU hasn’t solved the mystery surrounding the Iron Man-related mysteries. Based on the upcoming slate of Marvel Studios projects, it’s possible to narrow the field down to just three potential candidates right now.

Reed Richards, Norman Osborn, and Wilson Fisk are the most likely candidates to acquire Avengers Tower, as they all live in New York City and have a lot of money. Regardless, the MCU is laying the groundwork for a significant event.

The most widely held belief among Marvel Comics fans is that Reed Richards purchased Avengers Tower. In the Baxter Building, a 35-story tower across the street from the Avengers Tower, where Reed Richards and his Fantastic Four superhero team lived during the Civil War and the Secret Wars sagas.

Rather than having two towers housing two different superhero teams so close to each other, Marvel Studios may have converted the Avengers Tower to the Baxter Building to avoid confusing the viewers. It’s expected that the Baxter Building will appear in the Fantastic Four movie, but whether or not it’s a renovated Avengers Tower is still up in the air.

The Next Tenant Of The Avengers Tower

As far as we know, the MCU Osborn family has yet to be introduced in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but that doesn’t mean it can’t happen. Instead of buying Avengers Tower, Osborn could have turned it into Oscorp, the often-malign corporation that gave rise to a bevy of Spider-Man villains.

Set up a live-action Seige comic event in Osborn’s tower by making it the Dark Avengers headquarters. Wilson Fisk is the third most likely buyer of Avenger Tower. Hawkeye is expected to feature Vincent D’Onofrio reprising his role as The Kingpin from Netflix’s Daredevil. If he buys Avengers Tower, he will join the MCU timeline and become New York City’s top criminal.

There is a good chance that the four-year-long mystery surrounding the new owner of Avengers Tower will finally be solved in years to come. Fans will have to wait to see if Kingpin returns in Hawkeye as the new owner of the building or if the Baxter Building is revealed in 2023. In the end, it’s safe to say that whoever purchased Avengers Tower will play a significant role in future Marvel Cinematic Universe events.
