Do you remember Black Bolt from Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness? He was a part of the Illuminati on Earth-383. His voice was his weapon and Scarlet Witch used her chaos magic to erase his strongest weapon into oblivion. She simply rewrote reality and defeated the Inhuman King. Once you know who the Inhumans are and how powerful Black Bolt truly is, you will see things differently.

Who are the Inhumans?

The Inhumans are a race of genetically altered human beings who were experimented on by the Kree. They undergo a process known as Terrigenesis after which they develop their superpowers. Humans, with fear in their eyes and hatred in their veins, attacked the inhumans leading to several turbulent years of constant conflict between them. A faction of inhumans even relocated to the moon while the rest remained.

Eventually  the Inhumans settled in the city of Attilan. The location of Attilan was changed multiple times over the years to deal with various threats and protect the Inhumans.

They can live for around 150 years. The Inhuman heritage and their rigorous training makes them stronger, faster and more durable than the strongest humans. Their only weakness is their immune system that is unable to defend against diseases as they have mostly lived solitary lives, away from human population.

Why they should be in the MCU

Inhumans

The Inhumans have appeared on screen in several seasons of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. But with its cancellation, its presence in the larger Marvel Multiverse has been a point of contention. Moreover, there is still a whole story that is waiting to be tapped into.

It would give the MCU a chance to explore several interesting superpowers and also imagine the Terrigenesis process. Black Bolt of course has the most powerful voice that can destroy cities with mere whispers. Medusa has prehensile hair, Karnak exploits peoples’ weaknesses and Gorgon can basically generate earthquakes with his bull-like legs and hooves. The city of Attilan and its technological advancements, if adapted to the big screen, would be a marvel to watch.

Although the Inhumans do sound similar to the Mutants and the X-Men, they should be explored due to their long history and rich stories. Eventually the Mutants and the Inhumans can even be pitted against each other as was done in the comics.

Who is Black Bolt?

Blackagar Boltagon was born to Agon and Rynda. He was exposed to the Terrigen mist while still in his mother’s womb. Thus he was born with immense powers that he could not entirely control. Due to his ability to produce quasi-sonic energy which could destroy Attilan, he was kept in a soundproof chamber and given an energy-harnessing suit.

His powers are extreme even in the Inhuman scale. He manipulates and harnesses energy. He can also manipulate matter by rearranging molecules. Of course there is his voice which can destroy cities and armies. Due to this he remained mute throughout his life and learned to communicate non verbally. He has also shown immense psychic resistance against his brother Maximus’ powers. He can catch Quicksilver with his speed, match the Hulk with his super strength and also survive the detonation of the Terrigen bomb with his superhuman durability.

Could Black Bolt have beaten Wanda?

Black Bolt quasi-sonic energy blasts

Black Bolt quasi-sonic energy blasts

Yes absolutely. The version of Black Bolt shown in Multiverse of Madness seemed quite silly. A man who has remained mute for most of his life and spent his childhood mastering his abilities would not panic and speak when his mouth has vanished. In fact, Black Bolt had to be the first member of the Illuminati to go. If he would have remained, there would have been devastating consequences and Wanda would have barely survived. Black Bolt is also highly intelligent having been the King of Inhumans. He has staggered both Galactus and Thanos with his voice. His screams are even powerful enough to tear holes in the very fabric of reality. As mentioned before, his real super-power is his restraint. Even the slightest sound, whisper, breath can cause unmatched destruction.

Thus, the fight between Wanda and Black Bolt would not have been nearly as lopsided as shown. Wanda would have definitely put up a great fight with her chaos magic and Black Bolt would have gone toe to toe with her. I couldn’t tell you who would win but it would be the most epic fight ever. We demand a rematch!
