Love & Thunder can break Thor’s villain trend in Eternals 2 by bringing back the Thunder God and other well-established characters. The MCU’s Phase 4 covers both TV shows and movies. Furthermore, it continues the stories of well-known heroes while also introducing many new ones. A new “solo” adventure for Thor is coming in Thor: Love & Thunder, the fourth installment in Phase 4 “solo” film series.

In Thor: Ragnarok, the God of Thunder’s personality finally emerged and Hemsworth’s comedic abilities were fully exploited. This paved the way for yet another solo outing for the actor. Valkyrie, Korg, Lady Sif, and Jane Foster are all returning in Thor: Love & Thunder, which will also see the return of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Gorr the God Butcher will make his MCU debut in Thor 4.

Dealing With Gorr’s Wrath

In Thor: Love & Thunder, the plot details are still under wraps, so it’s not clear how Gorr will come into play, but he won’t be an easy foe to overcome. Because of his family’s death, Gorr lost his faith in the gods and took it out on them. The All-Black Necrosword belonged to one of the Gods Gorr saw fighting. It bonded with him and helped him kill another one. Furthermore, Gorr went from being an outcast to discovering that gods do exist. Eternals may change Gorr’s backstory. Also, he may become the antagonist of the Eternals next adventure. This would be so if he breaks the trend of Thor villains being killed off by Gorr’s wrath.

The MCU has a problem with villains, and few of them have lasted beyond their debut films, such as most Thor villains. There was Malekith in Thor: The Dark World and Hela was impaled by Surtur in Thor: Ragnarok. If Gorr survives, he can become the villain in Eternals 2 by targeting this new team of heroes. This would be so because of his backstory as a killer of Gods. As a result, the Celestial Arishem commissioned the Eternals to be sent to Earth to guard it against the Deviants, their evil doppelgangers.

After centuries on Earth, the Eternals finally felt called to return to Olympia, where they had lived for millennia before. The Celestials planted seeds on multiple planets to develop more Celestials. The birth of these destroyed the entire planet, and the Eternals helping humanity evolve were usually required for the emergence of Celestial Tiamut.

However, it was later revealed that Olympia doesn’t exist. Because Olympia doesn’t exist in the MCU, Gorr has no Greek Gods to exact his vengeance on. Furthermore, the Eternals have stepped in to fill the void. An Emergence ended Gorr’s planet in the first place. This is why the Celestials and Eternals are playing God.

After starting his revenge mission in Love and Thunder, Gorr could become a villain in Eternals 2. In addition to Thor, Russell Crowe’s Zeus will also appear in Thor 4. Finally, these encounters could lead Gorr to confront the Eternals, a different kind of Gods in the MCU, in the future. Having Gorr the God Butcher in just one movie would be a travesty, and it would be beneficial for future MCU films if he survived the events of Love & Thunder.
