Why White Walkers Should Be Introduced In House of the Dragon Season 2

House of the Dragon has subtly mentioned the white walkers multiple times, mainly by King Viserys. Will we see them in season 2?

Unlike House of the Dragon, Game of Thrones featured white walkers (or more precisely, the un-dead) in the first scene of the series itself, and made them a major part of the storyline. In the scene, viewers are shown a few dead horses and people, arranged in a weird symbol, which was clearly a deed of the wights, as we see these symbols in later parts of the series as well.

House of the Dragon has also used similar symbols, like the ‘Catspaw Dagger,’ to represent the fire that will kill ‘the darkness’ (darkness representing the dead). Aegon The Conqueror, united the seven kingdoms together because he saw a dream, which he named The Song of Ice and Fire, in House of the Dragon. In the series, it is shown that, just like Daenys ‘The Dreamer’ Targaryen, who had a prophetic dream in which she saw the doom of Valyria 12 years before it happened, Aegon The Conqueror also saw a similar dream of the possible ‘doom of Westeros’ when the army of the dead marches south.

Even after the mention of Aegon’s dream multiple times, House of the Dragon is likely to show the white walkers or at least indications of their existence. This is why House of the Dragon showrunners should include the presence of the dead in season 2:

House of the Dragon Original Fans Don’t Know About The Dead Yet

A link to this scenario was established in the debut episode of House of the Dragon. King Viserys Targaryen warns his daughter Rhaenyra of a prophecy carried down from Targaryen from king to king (or queen). The first Targaryen king of The Seven Kingdoms had a vision, called the “Song of Ice and Fire,” in which he glimpsed what we understand as Game of Thrones’s ‘The Great War,’ during the winter driven by the White Walkers.

If you know this, then it’s because you have watched Game of Thrones, however, House of the Dragon has a secion of their audience who are original viewers and the showrunners need to keep them in mind. This is why House of the Dragon season 2 should portray white walkers in some way, so that new viewers could get a context of the matter.

Aegon The Conqueror’s Dream May Not Be The Centre of Attraction For House of the Dragon

It is extremely improbable that White Walkers would be portrayed in the series, considering they were widely assumed to be mythical monsters in the events of Game of Thrones, which take place 172 years later. Including them in House of the Dragon might leave some major plot holes in the original programme.

However, as House of the Dragon has already mentioned the white walkers in a subtle way, the showrunners will have to show them in later seasons at least, if not in season 2. House of the Dragon has changed the storyline of the series slightly, and introducing white walkers would bring major changes in the storyline.
