Jeff Loveness, the writer of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty has cast doubt on the appearance of other characters such as the X-Men, Fantastic Four and Blade, despite their confirmed debut in the MCU. However, out of them all, he seems quite sure that the X-Men won’t be part of the Avengers’ next big fight.
Jeff Loveness Clarifies Status Of The X-Men In Avengers: Kang Dynasty
In an interview with Phase Zero, Loveness explained that while he is a big fan of the X-Men, he believes that their appearance in the MCU is being saved for the future. He stated that the Avengers already have their hands full with Kang the Conqueror and that the X-Men’s involvement could potentially distract from the main story.
Loveness also noted that the Avengers films have changed their function in the Multiverse Saga and that it’s still unclear who the Avengers are in this new era of the franchise. It’s important to note that Marvel Studios is gearing up for the arrival of the X-Men in the MCU, but it’s unlikely that they will fully get involved in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
Why Will The Mutants Not Be In Avengers 5?
Avengers 5 will already have to pull together all existing pockets of the MCU, with minimal substantial crossovers in the overarching narrative. Additionally, primary players such as Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch haven’t been developed in the same way as Iron Man and Captain America leading up to Avengers: Infinity War.
Therefore, Marvel Studios needs to put extra focus on them in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, and bringing in the X-Men could potentially detract from that endeavor. It’s possible that the film may include a reference to the X-Men that would pave the way for their proper introduction. However, for now, it seems that the X-Men’s debut in the MCU will be saved for a future project.
Fans can look forward to Deadpool 3, which will see the reunion of fan-favorite mutants Deadpool and Wolverine before the arrival of the X-Men in the MCU.
