As soon as Avengers: Secret Wars was announced, there was a lot of speculation about who might appear. Since Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprised their iconic roles as Spider-Men in Spider-Man: No Way Home, anything is possible in the vast world that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has created.

Naturally, it prompted a frequent question for anyone who had the opportunity to interview former Professor X James McAvoy. The actor had already received numerous inquiries about his potential participation in Secret Wars.

I’ve Definitely Not Got The Call

In a GQ interview, the actor said he had no desire to join the MCU, despite his former X-Men co-stars doing so. I can quickly respond, “No, I’m done.” Or you may say, “I don’t really care about going back.” McAvoy also addressed reports that he had been approached by Marvel Studios about returning for Avengers: Secret Wars. “I most certainly didn’t receive the call.” “If I did, I most certainly would not be telling you.”

Meanwhile in 2021, However, he added that he “never says never” and that he “feels extremely satisfied with what he got out of Professor X as a performer”

We can’t know for sure if he’s telling the truth, though, because it’s become common for actors to misrepresent their appearances in Marvel movies. Even though he insisted he wasn’t the werewolf, Andrew Garfield was very much the werewolf. Similar to how Paul Rudd blatantly lied about getting the role of Ant-Man, etc.

Mutants have gradually started to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) since Marvel Studios bought back the rights to the X-Men in 2019. The first movie to include mutants in the MCU was Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), in which Patrick Stewart portrayed a different variant of Professor X. This Phase 4 blockbuster hit was a huge success. While Namor was one of the first mutants in the world introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the Disney+ series Ms. Marvel also established that its main protagonist is a mutant. With Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman slated to reprise their X-Men roles as Wade Wilson (Deadpool) and Logan (Wolverine) in the upcoming threequel, Deadpool 3 will further integrate the X-Men into the MCU.

The hype for Avengers 6 would undoubtedly increase if the MCU included characters from earlier Marvel films, but giving these individuals an opportunity to play a meaningful role would do wonders. The audience’s introduction to the mutants in the MCU would be provided by McAvoy’s potential return as Charles Xavier alongside the Avengers.
