After Willem Dafoe‘s recent appearance as Norman Osborn aka Green Goblin in Spider-Man: No Way Home, many fans are wondering if he will return to the role in future MCU films. Dafoe recently spoke with Inverse and discussed the idea of returning to play the Green Goblin once more on the big screen.
Dafoe’s Condition For MCU Comeback
Dafoe mentioned that he enjoyed playing the role of the Green Goblin in both the Spider-Man trilogy and No Way Home, but he would only consider returning if “everything was right.” He expressed that the role was great and he appreciated the double role aspect of it. Dafoe previously spoke with Yahoo and mentioned that he returned to the role under the condition that it wouldn’t be a cameo, and that he wanted to do as many of his own physical stunts as he could.
How Can Dafoe Return As Goblin?
As with many comic book movies, characters are never truly dead or gone, so there is a possibility for Dafoe to return to the role in the future. The most logical place for Dafoe to return would likely be in a movie like Avengers: Secret Wars, where Marvel is looking to bring as many legacy stars as possible back in an effort to make the biggest comic-book movie of all time.
Dafoe understands the ramifications of bringing back a popular villain for another round and stays ready to deliver a fantastic performance to the big screen in roles such as this.
