Netflix’s The Witcher just dropped new images for its upcoming season. The photos display Geralt, Ciri, and the trails left behind by the Battle of Sodden Hill. The Witcher Season 1 first debuted on the streaming giant in 2019. Soon after its release, the show gained massive popularity and became one of Netflix’s most-streamed shows. The show follows the story of Geralt of Rivia, played by Henry Cavill. Geralt is one of the few remaining monster hunters, known as ‘Witchers’ across the Continent, still alive. Season 1 of The Witcher does not just see Geralt defeating these formidable monsters. The kind of people Geralt comes across is way more complex than any monsters that he kills for a coin.
The Witcher Season 1 finale concluded on an overwhelming note. Fans were torn between rooting for their favourite characters’ journeys. In the final episode, Ciri and Geralt’s paths finally converge after days of looking for each other. And now, their story will move forward together.
However, as for sorceress Yennefer, the last we saw her was in the Battle of Sodden Hill. Yennefer manages to channel a fire so fierce she burns the battlefield in an attempt to stop the Niflgaardian forces. Trailers for The Witcher Season 2 tease the sorceress being captured with Fringilla. All we know about the forthcoming season is the little things revealed by the trailers. Where exactly will Geralt, Ciri, Yennefer, and the other characters in The Witcher find themselves in season 2? That is yet to be determined.
While there are so many details remaining to understand regarding The Witcher Season 2, there are many new images that have recently made it to the internet. And through these pictures, we have a faint idea of what lies ahead for our favourite characters.
As shared by Comicbook, these images mainly give light to Geralt and Ciri as the two journey through various perils and learn more about each other. It makes sense that the character in these pictures carries a dismal, subdued aura. In one photo, Ciri is reaching out for a lamp. In the other, a very serious-looking Geralt is holding a sword. Also, the next picture shows Yennefer and Fringilla together in a dark forest. The set of photos also seems to confirm that Tissaia is still alive. In an image that focuses on what is left behind after the Battle of Sodden Hill, Tissaia stands with a single hand up. And she is surrounded by soldiers, laying dead, who lost their lives in the battle.
As an interesting fact, the photos also reveal a little bit of the old keep of Kaer Morhen. The fortress is where witchers, including Geralt, have trained for centuries. The little information we have available from the books and game series of the same name suggests that Geralt takes Ciri to Kaer Morhen to train her and keep her safe.
Kaer Morhen is occupied at its full capacity with several men, who are all Witchers. The bunch welcomes Geralt and Ciri when they arrive at the old keep. One of these Witchers is also an anticipated inclusion in the series. Vesemir, also known as Geralt’s mentor, is the oldest and most knowledgeable Witchers. Vesemir has existed on the Continent for a long time. And in his wise years, he has trained many Witchers, including Geralt of Rivia. The photos give him a lot of significance, both front and centre. In addition to this, another photo shows Geralt training at Kaer Morhen. The Witcher is balancing on several wooden posts and practising with his sword.
The upcoming season of The Witcher will give Freya Allan’s Ciri a very prominent role. This is why it is certain that the new photos focus on the star more. These photos reveal some thrilling details on how the story will advance in the new season. However, it is still uncertain how Yennefer manages to survive and escape. And then find her way back to Geralt and Ciri. Besides this, the photos reveal close to nothing on the sort of monsters that may be waiting for Geralt to fight. Although, from these images, it is pretty evident that the second season of The Witcher is filled with action and adventure. And will perhaps be more thrilling than even the first.
