Every big bad villain needs to have their own army of strong minions to increase their power and might. It’s as Proxima Midnight said in the MCU during Avengers: Infinity Wars. Villains need to have lives to spare. Thanos would not be half as successful if he didn’t have the Outrider army sacrificing their lives for the cause. So let us explore some of the strongest villain armies in the MCU.

1. Chitauri

The Chitauri army helped Loki during the battle in New York and went up against the Avengers in the MCU. Once Loki opened the wormhole, the army kept pouring in continuously and found their strength in numbers. Despite losing the battle to the Avengers, they caused damage that was unheard of. New York City was left in ruins after their attack.

2. Outriders

In the MCU, the outriders were essential to the battle of Wakanda as they sacrificed their lives to break through the advanced barrier that covered the nation. They are vicious and strong warriors. During the battle in Infinity Wars, they had managed to successfully overpower the superheroes including Captain America, Black Panther and Bruce Banner in Hulkbuster armor. This was until Thor, Rocket Racoon and Groot arrived from Nidavellir with the Stormbreaker in tow.

3. HYDRA

One of the biggest upsets in the history of the MCU was HYDRA successfully taking over S.H.I.E.L.D. by infiltrating it over decades. Its army spread far and wide to the point where no one in S.H.I.E.L.D. could be trusted. One of the most intelligent organizations, they forced Nick Fury to fake his own death. With several notable members such as Alexander Pierce and Rumlow, this organization is best known for its Winter Soldier Program in the MCU.

4. Soul Eaters

The Soul Eaters were introduced in the MCU during the Shang Chi movie. They are winged creatures that use their tentacles to suck and harvest souls. They sucked the souls of the villagers of Tao Lo during the battle to aid their leader Dweller-in-Darkness. These creatures essentially collected souls to give to the Dweller and make him stronger while leaving behind dried up corpses. In the MCU Xu Wenwu made the fatal mistake of letting these creatures out and they proceeded to wreak havoc on the village. Whats even more interesting is that the weapons of the warrior of the Ten Rings did not work on the soul eaters. They could only be defeated using weapons made from dragon scales.

5. Ultron Sentries

Im sure all fans remember the moment in Avengers: Age of Ultron in the MCU during the battle on Sokovia when Thor made the mistake of taunting Ultron saying, “Is that the best you can do?” Ultron then proceeded to bring his army of sentries that he himself had produced using the Vibranium that he stole from Ulysses Klaue. Without the sentries aiding him, Ultron would not have been able to cause any of the destruction that he did.

6. Berserkers

The army of Berserkers were raised from the dead by none other than Odin’s first born, Hela, Goddess of Death using the Eternal Flame in the MCU during Ragnarok. Moreover, the army was joined by Fenris the great Asgardian Wolf who had helped Hela during her initial conquest of the nine realms. The Berserkers were previously courageous Einhajer warriors who were buried as heroes under Odin’s crypt. After being reincarnated, they were merely aggressive, mindless zombies whose only goal was to fight and kill in accordance with Hela’s orders.

7. Dark Elves

The Dark Elves led by Malekith the Accursed have been one of the most adamant and stubborn enemies of Odin. They are quite literally mortal enemies and have lived for even longer than the Asgardians. As Odin said in the MCU during Thor: The Dark World, before the nine realms existed, the Dark elves reigned supreme and unchallenged. Three generations of Asgardians have fought these villainous armies including Bor, Odin and Thor. Despite MCU’s lackluster depiction of Malekith and his might, this army is definitely one to look out for.

8. Sakaaran Mercenaries

In the MCU, Sakaaran Mercenaries had aided Ronan the Accuser in his quest for the power stone and his mission to destroy Xandar. The army of these mercenaries was led by Korath the Pursuer during Guardians of the Galaxy vol 1.
