Compared to the other Marvel reveals at Comic-Con 2022, Agatha: House of Harkness received the most drastic modification by introducing a new name. Agatha: Coven of Chaos. This series is an offshoot of WandaVision, where Scarlet Witch battled Agatha Harkness. There isn’t much known about Agatha: Coven of Chaos at this point, but we may be able to glean some information on Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda’s potential appearance in the series.
Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, has had one of the MCU’s saddest arcs from the beginning. When WandaVision and Doctor Strange visited the Multiverse of Madness, her sad path resulted in a turn to evil and her death at the hands of the Darkhold.
Despite this, Wanda/Scarlet Witch remains one of MCU’s most popular characters, leading many to assume that she will return to the big screen at some point. First, in Winter 2023, Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness will return in a spin-off titled Agatha: Coven of Chaos, which will air on the ever-popular WandaVision.
Many fans believe Olsen’s return to the MCU will take place in this series since it continues to develop the story began in WandaVision, in which the witch played an antagonistic role against Wanda.
The Scarlet Witch Returns to Agatha: Coven of Chaos, But Why?
A slight tease suggesting their eventual reunion was left for viewers after the final fight of WandaVision, only seconds after Wanda had turned into the Scarlet Witch. While transforming Agatha into the nosy Westview neighbor, the evil witch assured her she would need her in the future.
Agatha: “You have no idea what you’ve unleashed. You’re gonna need me.”
Wanda: “If I do, I know where to find you.”
Harkness’s purpose in Coven of Chaos is likely the same as when she and Maximoff met in WandaVision: to exploit Maximoff’s Chaos abilities for her ends. Maybe she’ll try to get what she wants by seeming to aid Wanda, or maybe this time she’ll mean well.
Can We Expect Much from Elizabeth Olsen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
From what Doctor Strange could tell, Wanda had died in the collapse of Mount Wundagore, giving her life to wipe out all Darkhold replicas throughout the Multiverse. Therefore, despite Scarlet Witch perhaps becoming the lead in a movie or series in the future, that is likely to be preceded by a stunning reappearance in another project.
Wanda’s return might come courtesy of Agatha, seeing as how Agatha: Coven of Chaos is a spin-off of WandaVision and clues have been dropped about their magical reunion. But if it doesn’t, her unique other world experience means she’ll be returning before the Multiverse Saga concludes to help defeat Kang in The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars.
