Spider-Man: No Way Home is expected to introduce the Green Goblin to the MCU. Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parkers will face off against Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and the villains from the Sam Raimi and Marc Webb Spider-Man films, even though there are already five villains teased in the No Way Home trailers. Norman Osborn, better known as the Green Goblin, should be a cause for concern for Spider-Man fans in the MCU.

Goblin’s Cameo In The Trailer Has Had A Lot To Say

Early in Spider-Man’s comic history, the Green Goblin quickly established himself as Peter’s most challenging adversary. Throughout the years, Norman grew in stature as a Spider-Man villain, distinguishing himself from his peers. Doctor Octopus and The Jackal were intellectual threats. Still, the Green Goblin attacked Spider-Man’s spirit and vowed to break him until he either died or became a monster like Norman Osborn, who was Spider-Man’s archenemy. Despite his love for Spider-Man, Norman has a history of threatening other Marvel heroes. The Green Goblin is one of Marvel Comics’ most dangerous villains, even though he lacks the cosmic threat levels of Thanos or Galactus.

Green goblin

The Green Goblin, Spider-Man’s archenemy, has appeared in numerous Spider-Man adaptations, including live-action movies. In the Sam Raimi Spider-Man Trilogy, Willem Dafoe’s Goblin perfectly captures the gleefully sadistic spirit and incredible threat level of his comic counterpart. For Dafoe’s Green Goblin to be the greatest threat to all of the multiverse’s villains in No Way Home’s twisted mind games, deadly weapons, and cruel schemes. It looks like his brief appearance in the trailers indicates that the Goblin will once again rise above other supervillains in this film.

Reasons Why Goblin Should Be The Main Villain

First, the Green Goblin tries to psychologically break Spider-Man by turning him against the people he is tasked with protecting. A cruel, unwinnable situation arises when Spider-Man is forced to choose between saving Mary Jane Watson and an innocent tram car full of people when he discovers his civilian identity. No Way Home will feature Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn, the Green Goblin, who appeared in only one film. Dafoe’s performance in that film echoed some of the most horrific stories from the comics about Norman Osborn.

Dafoe's Goblin

Dafoe’s Goblin appears to be taunting Peter Parker in the second trailer for No Way Home as he battles his multiverse-based foes. The Goblin’s words may echo some of the sadistic scenarios from his 2002 debut. While the line in context may be him twisting the knife in response to Peter’s suffering, he could also be playing his twisted head games with another universe’s Spider-Man. Many believe Norman will target Aunt May and Happy Hogan to break Spider-Man’s spirit again, based on the footage of the pumpkin bomb detonating in front of Spider-Man.

When it comes to the Green Goblin, Tom Holland’s portrayal of Spider-Man is significantly less competent than his Raimi and comic counterparts, so he may not have the necessary resources to handle such a formidable adversary. In Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man may have a fighting chance against the Green Goblin with the help of Doctor Strange and two other Spider-Man iterations. One of which has previously fought Norman Osborn.
