The Disney+ series “Ms. Marvel” ended with a great tease about the mutants in the MCU.
Even though they changed Kamala Khan’s origin story for the series, She’s originally an “Inhuman” in the comics.
But they completely changed her character to a mutant in the MCU, which disappointed some comic book fans.
And the important reason for this change can be the failure of the “Inhuman” show and the introduction of the mutants in the MCU.
At the end of the show, Bruno tells Kamala about something different in her genes and drops the word “mutation”.
Then followed with a 90s X-Men animated theme which is similar to the one from Multiverse Of Madness Charles Xavier theme.
Ms. Marvel Creator On Mutant Origin
Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel is an Inhuman in the Marvel comics but her character is changed to a mutant in the MCU.
However, in an interview with Empire the co-creator and executive producer of Ms. Marvel Sana Amanat address the origin change.
And also mentioned that they originally wanted Ms. Marvel to be a mutant in the MCU.
Whatever it means for Kamala’s own story, it is a hint of bigger things to come in the MCU. “I will say, I think this is opening up doors for a lot of great storytelling, obviously, as a huge fan, um… of the word ‘mutation’,” she laughs. “I’m really happy about it.”
The Actress of the series Iman Vellani also shared how she feels to be the first mutant in the MCU.
“Don’t get me wrong, I love the Inhumans. Blackbolt is my father, but I do think the MCU is a very different place than the comics and so were actually able to go this way with Kamala. And to be fair, the original intent for the character was to make her a mutant too. I am over the moon that this is real and we could make it happen”
Although some fans could be disappointed with these changes to the origin and powers of the character.
we can always get a comic-accurate character from the multiverse and this series plays an important role in setting up mutants in the MCU.
Hopefully, we will get to know more about mutants in upcoming Marvel projects.
