Lucasfilm’s Star Wars animated series The Bad Batch is currently airing its first season on Disney+. But fans are already excited to know what comes next. Chronologically, next in line is the anime anthology series Star Wars: Visions. Fans recently got to see descriptions of the upcoming shorts of the anime series, as well as know which studios will be working on them.

Star Wars: Visions will drop in September on Disney+ exclusively. Next up is The Book of Boba Fett which will stream in December. Now, if the marketing pattern of The Mandalorian is to be followed, then fans shouldn’t expect any sort of promotional material for the show till late October. And that’s at the earliest.

But that’s not all. Star Wars fans who want something more than live-action can check out The High Republic’s second wave that should land on shelves soon. Not just that, the next round of books will get announced during the San Diego Comic-Con event taking place this year.

But we know what most fans must be asking- when will we get to see The Mandalorian season 3? Or at least some more news about season 3 of the show? By now, we all know that season 3 hasn’t even begun filming yet. So due to Obi-Wan Kenobi filming right now and as a result of lead Pedro Pascal’s busy schedule, we won’t be getting season 3 this year.

As for when production will begin, nobody can pin the correct date about it. But estimates say that it will either begin late 2021 or early 2022. Jon Favreau has stated that he will start working on The Mandalorian season 3 once The Book of Boba Fett’s shooting gets over.

So if the estimated production time frame is right, then we might see season 3 in mid to late 2022. But there seems to be a leaked report that says that the release date could be earlier.

The Mandalorian Season 3 Could Release In Spring

A post in the Star Wars leaks subreddit says that Edelweiss+, a marketing site in the book industry, has a listing of a “Screen Comix” graphic novel that’s based on Boba Fett. The associated description that was likely leaked too states that season 3 of The Mandalorian will show up in the Spring of 2022.

Is This Listing correct?

Should you trust this listing? Yes, you can. Edelweiss+ is a reputed marketing platform for books. But you need to also understand that this might be a previous listing that’s no longer valid. After all, things and plans changed. Also, we need to mention that Lucasfilm loves keeping their cards close to their vests.

Mandalorian, Grogu and Bokatan

So it’s a little suspicious that a book listing platform of all places got to know the release window of one of their most anticipated series. Also, since Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor are deep into their productions, so one can logically expect those shows to drop first since they will obviously get completed first.

After all, it seems unlikely to us that Disney or Lucasfilm will hold onto completed projects just to allow season 3 of The Mandalorian to premiere first. Also, we don’t see them airing two shows simultaneously or one right after the other. Logically, they will want to air out their release schedules so that they can cover more ground throughout the year.

So maybe we can judge the right release window for The Mandalorian season 3 as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor get their release dates. On another side, with The Book of Boba Fett almost done with filming or having completed filming, one can expect that The Mandalorian season 3 staff can begin filming soon on their stage.

However, there’s also the question of Pedro Pascal’s availability. Right now, he is shooting for another show. So it remains to be seen when he can shoot the third season of The Mandalorian. But one can say that shooting can begin without him since Mando’s face is mostly hidden under the helmet.

So the stunt double can take his place and they can begin production. After that, once Pascal’s schedule clears up, he can join in. However, with so many variables factors, it remains to be seen if Season 3 can even begin production soon enough that allows for a spring 2022 release. Right now it’s a wait and watch game as always.
