In NWH, Gwyneth Paltrow’s Pepper Potts is made to look bad yet again. This is because of a plot hole involving Iron Man. Despite Tony Stark’s death in Avengers: Endgame, Peter Parker attempted to move on with his life in this movie. Despite the benefits of being on his own, Spider-Man: No Way Home reveals that it also has its drawbacks.

The last few years have been a difficult time for Peter. Iron Man was revived in Avengers: Endgame after being dusted by Thanos’ snap in Infinity War. However, fans eventually saw him sacrifice himself for the greater good. Throughout Far From Home, Peter was haunted by the death of his mentor. This is what made him no longer want to be a hero. The disgruntled Stark Industries employees, led by Mysterio, remained a problem for Peter after the grieving period had passed. He may have been defeated, but Quentin Beck outed Spider- Man’s identity, effectively ruining Peter Parker’s life.

For Spider-Man: No Way Home, the events of Spider-Man: Far from Home served as a starting point, as Peter was also framed for the death of Mysterio, who is still considered to be a heroic figure. The original problem of the film could have been quickly resolved if Peter had received assistance from those who had survived his mentor. This is even though the threequel did not spend much time on this particular plotline. How come no one from Stark Industries came to the aid of Pepper or anyone else?

For all that Jon Favreau’s Happy Hogan had been accommodating to Peter, he was primarily doing so because of his close friendship with May. Spider-Man: No Way Home was filmed in the middle of a pandemic, so it’s understandable that Paltrow wasn’t available or willing to appear in the film. The actor, on the other hand, didn’t have to appear in the film at all. With just a few words, Happy could have served as a liaison between Spider-Man and Tony Stark’s wife, who was willing to assist him.

Because of Stark’s decision to abandon Peter, he now finds himself in this predicament. The young hero was singled out for assassination because of his close relationship with billionaire Avenger. Since Stark Tech was involved in the London incident, it’s possible that Stark Industries could have come out and defended him while he was being vilified for the death of Mysterio. Even though it wouldn’t have halted the investigation, it would have helped repair his public image.

What If Stark Was Still Alive?

Furthermore, Pepper could have easily called MIT to plead Peter’s case because her deceased husband was a well-known alumni and generous supporter of the university’s work. Because of this, our hero would have never approached Doctor Strange and the memory spell would never have been cast. The fact that Paltrow appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home is irrelevant to this discussion.

Obviously, this is all part of the story being told by Marvel Studios and Sony. They could’ve handled this better given the closeness of Spider-Man and Iron Man’s relationship. If Stark was still alive during the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, he would have reached out to Peter and provided him with whatever assistance he required. Spider-role Man’s in Avengers: Endgame made it clear that Iron Man cared deeply about the character. Rather than abandoning his mentee in the middle of a crisis, he would have stepped in to help.
